American sports championships this year
#1
Curious to hear what people think about the teams that win championships this year, particularly MLB since it's such a departure from the normal season/postseason format. Should the World Series winner have an asterisk? Some way of denoting that the season was shortened? Past strike-shortened seasons of various sports haven't had those seasons' winners differentiated in any way, so to most people who look at sports history they appear like any other championship. I guess I'm wondering if that should be the case in a season that's as different as the COVID-affected ones this year. Thoughts?

Everything seems fair to me

I don't think so.  Rules change in sports often enough (location of three point lines, charging fouls, pass interference, the list goes on) but all teams need to follow the same rules as all the others.  Just because there's a format change, all teams still are affected similarly and the champions will still be the best teams in the sport (or really lucky).  So no need to put an asterisk on it just because things are different this year, too.  Just my opinion Smile

Now that NHL is done...

I think asterisk is fair, not that it is any less of a championship but just to show that it is a different one. The formats are completely different, no fans or traveling, but still hard to win trophies. We'll see how NBA and MLB finish up.
