I played a lot of age of empires back in the day but haven’t found any rts games that I’ve enjoyed since. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Take a look at Paradox Interactive franchises. Just be warned that they tend to lock 1 or 2 mechanics behind DLC. I'd recommended Hearts of Iron 4 if your into WW2 + with it's well populated modded community

there is the new age of empires 2, that is awesome!
i really recommend Company of Heroes
IMO the first is better than the second one
i really liked the campaing of CoH 1
CoH 2 put a lot of P2W things, like generals and stuffs

My brother loves the Command and Conquer series, you should probably check them out too!
