I've read that MLB is going to soon be expanding to a 12 or even 14 team playoff field. This seems odd to me since you'd have some pretty mediocre teams winding up in the playoffs.

Fans of NBA/NHL/MLS - Does the huge playoff field dilute and cheapen the playoffs, or make them more interesting?
