BBQ Season

Weather so nice these days for BBQ. I've gotten pretty good at grilling steak, just salt, pepper, a bit of oil and a nice medium rare in the middle. But for some reason I can't get a homemade burger patty to work. Whenever I put it on the grill it always falls apart. I think you're suppose to slap it on when its frozen, but the middle doesn't cook through. I've also seen people use egg to glue it together but I want a pure beef patty, any tips?
