So I got some cheap bluetooth earphones from the sale pile a few weeks ago to prevent wire tangles during workouts, and when I was watching a video and playing some games I noticed that the screen and the sound I'm hearing had some delay to it. Varies from a split second to a second. Are they broken or were they always like this?

If they work after you restart them, then I would say it's normal probably. I have airpods and even they have an audio delay or lag to them every now and then for no reason.

As recommend before, simply turn them off and on again. Most likely this will help

yeah bluetooth headphones/earbuds seem to always have some delay, it's inevitable. higher end ones will have less delay to the point that it isn't noticeable from my experience
