Yes it was a public event and yes in an ideal world everyone would keep being able to see it. (and everyone could until the last 4 days or so I think)

BUT over 100+ people requested to join the leaderboard and then did nothing. Other people just kept refreshing the page over and over again causing a lot of server stress and causing board slowdown.

It seemed unfair to remove them arbitrarily, so we chose the lesser of 2 evils and decided to only allow participants to view the leaderboard. 

The results were posted here
