Can I get some suggestions for comfy horror films? Stuff like the haunting of hill house, which I really enjoyed as it was spooky but didn't go overboard.

Not a movie, but I enjoyed a TV Series, Dark. Eerie, thriller, mystery - it's a decent show. Make sure to watch it in German, since the English dubs aren't too good.

I think most Stephen King films are really good particularly the classics (like pre 2000) for some reason they all seem really like warm and comforting, it probably has to do with the fact his books are really good and a lot of old films were done on film so they have a certain visual atmosphere
