For experienced investors, how do you invest?
#1
Like the title asks, how do you know what to invest in?  I like to believe that I’m more of a traditional investor in that I believe in equity research.  I have done TA before and it works.  However, I want to become better at identifying companies to invest in with legitimate reasons other than trends/patterns.  Any thoughts?

I think about it in 3 buckets:
1) 70% saving: invest in ETF trackers or lifetime Funds (key is to diversify and not be exposed to single stocks)
2) 25% investing: select single stocks/bonds/crypto you really believe in or invest behind trends you like
3) 5% trading: take advantage of short term movements you see in the market/single stocks/crypto (play money). Only do this if you can afford to loose this

Largely depends on a variety of factors, such as age and expertise.

I’m in a field where I can’t use specialized industry knowledge to professionally trade single stocks. As such, any single stock pick would be a gamble, and there’s no reason to think I’m different from 99% of other people that can’t beat the S&P.

So I keep everything in ETF’s. It’s less of a hassle and historically will perform best (for me) in the long run.
