Build up a portfolio, you can use personal projects to show your compentency.

Maybe even try sites live Fiverr to do odd dev jobs here and there, just to gain experience of how to deal with potential clients.

1. Learn programming, self teach or go to a coding bootcamp or major in CS/Software Engineering
2. If you're in college find internships, build side projects (this will be your portfolio), learn data structures and algorithms
3. Apply, apply, apply
4. Study for interviews, grind leetcode questions, keep applying and keep your head up this is a hard process.

For a more detailed guide look up a youtube video on how to become a software engineer or related. There everywhere and will go more in depth. But honestly, this is the general idea.

If you are a beginner you could apply for a bootcamp. Some programs will teach you how to code and after that they will hand you over to another company where you geta job.

freecodecamp is free source. You probably wanna check it out. Of course, there are bootcamp like Lambda school out there. Really depends on what you choose.
