With most sports, say European Football, you can play as a kid with some hats for goalposts during recess and a ball, there are leagues everywhere, etc. You have a chance to get good. You get good enough, you get scouted.
But what about obscure sports? Say, Luging. It looks fun as hell. But how in the world are you supposed to get your foot in the door for sliding down an ice hill at mach 10? Any experience of others getting into pro teams for niche activities?
