Having seen the directing style of Rian Johnson apply to an original feature in his previous films as well as in the original knives out, on top of working with Mark Hamill in The Last Jedi shows me that those two do have a type of energy that could translate well in the Knives Out universe.
I really think that Mark Hamill‘s acting abilities have improved to the point where he could play the oldest brother of Benoit Blanc who could either be a hippie detective or someone who is a little bit more full of himself than Benoit is.
I also think that those two working together again after The Last Jedi would do a lot to show the absence of bad blood between them to a lot of people who tend to fabricate that sort of relationship.
