Marvel vs. DC
#1
It's no secret that Marvel is absolutely dominating the whole superhero thing right now, but do you think there's a chance DC can compete any time in the near future? I've heard nothing but glowing reviews about James Gunn's "The Suicide Squad" so far and I thought Birds of Prey was pretty good as well, if they can find their footing I think they could have a similar line-up as Marvel has with their "Phase" system. That being said though, maybe people are tired of all the superhero stuff? I know plenty of people in my life who have said they're sick of it and have lost interest. Also it seems like they are going to milk Harley Quinn as much as possible since that seems to be the only character anyone is currently interested in from DC, at least until Batman is released. James Gunn even mentioned wanting to do a Harley Quinn and Groot crossover movie and has already talked to both studios about it.

Definitely DC, darker shit is better

i thought suicide squad was kinda confusing, and kinda boring.
but maybe half of marvel movies are like that too

The reason Marvel is so dominant now is all due to their 3 phase movie plan that started back in the late 2000s. They started with movies for each character (Iron Man, Cap, Thor, etc) and built up a shared history that could be rolled into the later ensemble movies (The Avengers, etc). Now with Phase 3 complete thru Endgame they've moved into the next phase of telling other stories within the MCU, either filling in other characters' stories (Black Widow), or expanding on others (WandaVision, Falcon and Winter Soldier).

The contrast with DC is that I haven't seen the same level of preparation and planning with the movies and TV shows. There's been some Batman, some Superman, then Suicide Squad, WW, Aquaman, Birds of Prey, etc. They seem to just be jumping around without any sort of concrete progression. And the ensemble movies like SS just throw in a bunch of extra random heroes that we've never met before and know nothing about but somehow are supposed to care about. So I don't think people have developed the same level of connection that they have with MCU.

Both are quite good but I think DC needs to get out of the mentality that they always. Have to be dark serious movies, like DC comics weren't always dark and serious so I feel like they need to have a bit more of that

#6
In movies it's sure that marvel is doiminant, dc can't make a real partaged universe, all movies are like stand-alone

#7
Animations, DC wins by a landslide. However, live action movies? Marvel wins with storytelling.

#8
Marvel Movies > DC Movies
DC cartoons > Marvel Cartoons (Although 90s spiderman and x-men goes hard)

#9
I've always loved DC but Marvel movies were so much better

#10
It's a shame really that DC just can't find a foothold in the live action movie side, games, animation and originally their tv shows in the early seasons and sadly to say their comics smash marvel out of the water but the are just cruising bevusd of their crappy movies

#11
live action DC is just such a let down. The snyder cut was great but it all was basically for nothing in the end. The new flash movie could maybe save everything but who knows

#12
Now it's a battle of how well you can beat the PC. Make movies for people, not politics.

#13
Its a good output and people will enjoy

I've always liked DC more in general, the question now to be more attractive is to improve film planning
