Master and Commander is a masterclass of pacing.

I saw something on here the other day, or it might have been a fluff news sight like Yahoo mentioning the movie, so it had been in my mind to re-watch.

It's on Prime, and I'll be honest, movies I watch at home I can barely sit through for the entirety these days. But I just sat through all or Master and Commander and the pacing in that movie is phenomenal. The mix between action and suspense, drama and lightheartedness is not to be understated, and it's so woven together in such a complete manner that it's almost unheard of these days.

I am a fiend for pacing, I think most movies live and die by it, regardless of subject matter. Master and Commander is extremely well paced, and so, if you haven't seen it in a while, do yourself a favor and watch it again.

Really, this movie deserves more credit than it receives. I loved that Russell Crowe snapped back at someone about it recently.

A shame they didn't fill out the series.

I only remember being bored, but I was a teen when I watched it so maybe I'll have to give it another shot.
