What do you think about potc with a female lead? Personally the only reason I like potc is because of Johnny Depp. If he isn’t going to star in it I wouldn’t even want to watch it.

Yeah this is what Disney is missing. I hope they can find a compelling female lead and a good story, but if their only angle is "we have a female lead" I'm not sure it would be very good. At least with Johnny Depp he could help skate over a terrible story. (The first film is by far the best.)

They could potentially make a spin-off with Penelope Cruz after the 4th one. I was pleasantly surprised with her comedic timing when the scenes needed it. The main hurdle will be making the character multi-dimensional. I think a lot of the issues people have with the recent female lead projects is that they're considered one-dimensional. To make sure the female is empowered, they've removed character flaws that provide depth and thus make her boring.
