It's tough, I know I have an addiction and can go spurts but I really have to focus, then I relapse and go for months on end again before I realize I need to stop. Pretty much have to not go cold turkey immediately and ween myself off
For me, it gets worse the less I have to do in the day. Like because of quarantine it's been getting pretty bad, but before it hardly took up much of my time. I think being cooped up really makes this a lot worse than it really is for me.
