R for more general programming
#1
Learnt R Studio for Economics and Statistics, but I was wondering if you could use R for more general purpose programming as well; any thoughts?

I mean, although you can, I don't see any actual reason to do so. R was built for Economics and Statistics. Using it for applications outside of that would defeat the purpose of R. There's no big libraries or tools for integrating with other systems and is quite slow.
