Can i use other file hosting services apart from mega, and can i password protect the .rar file so it doesn't gets taken down due to DMCA.

While zip files aren't inherently bad, they are highly suspect and can be home to malware.

Same for rar files.

Use your best judgement when using other file hosts. Slow, ad ridden file hosts will not be approved.
