Stargate SG-1 had the strongest first season among the popular group of science fiction television shows. It benefited from being based on an established movie and was able to surpass it by fleshing it out in detail the mechanics and making the overarching story and premise a believable journey. It also benefited from standing on the shoulder of giants since the 90's were an era of speculative fiction, if you're a Startrek fan, you'll notice a lot of tropes and plotlines that are similar but will be vastly different as the interpretation will be from another novel perspective. Regardless, I think SG-1 doesn't get enough attention as much as Startrek, even though I think it's a stronger contender as a social science fiction show.

If you're a huge science fiction fan or a Star Trek/Sliders fan and haven't seen Stargate SG-1, it's currently streaming on Netflix and I'd definitely recommend at least watching the first season or two at least.

I got good news. SG1 is coming back. Not as a reboot and not as a remake but as a CONTINUATION!!!! They’ve been in production since 2020 when the scamdemic hit. They’re still ironing out all the finer points but the creator did an AMA on reddit and essentially announced new SG!! I’m STUPID excited!!
