Currently I’m a developer and I always wondered how to make a game. Normally I stick to UI for web and such. Mainly 2D reactive UI. Did you move from this platform to gaming? How did you do it? Where did you start?

Where to start? Get your resume to a recruiter, who can get you in contact with gaming companies looking for programmers. Not all game programming is dealing with the UI. There's a lot on the backside dealing with math and logic structure and whatnot. You do have the gaming engines, but basic programming is still a part of it all.

Gaming development requires tons of effort, but also the lowest in pay. I would reconsider if I were you. Maybe you can do it on the side as a hobby.
