Thoughts on porn addiction?
#1
I've heard a lot of people saying that porn addiction is not a real thing. What do you guys think? Personally, I think people can get addicted to things, but that not everything is like a chemical addiction. Have any of you guys experienced porn addiction or are experiencing it now? If this is the wrong place for something like this let me know, but I was wondering.

Addictions are real, including porn addiction. We associate a particular chemical reaction in the brain with whatever activity we're doing. And then you become dependent on that high from it. It's like any other addiction.

This is the second topic about this, why do we have two topics for this?

Because it seems that people are coming here and realizing that they may have a porn addiction. This is an aggregator site, where massive amounts of porn are found. Some people come here and realize that they're too into porn because it's dominating their lives. I think that's why we're seeing this thread over and over.

Porn addictions are totally real and probably very present on sites like these, as they're concentrated points of porn.
If you ever wonder if you're addicted to porn, just try to not look at ANY porn for a week, also no masturbation. If you can't do it, you're addicted. Even " Ah, one time can't hurt" or something like that, that's already a clear sign of an addiction.

And if you think you're not addicted although you didn't try the thing above: You don't know anything yet, your brain would NEVER safely say "Nah, I don't have an addiction", that's just how they work.

And yes, you can get addicted to literally anything. Anything your brain or body can react on.

It's without a doubt real, and I'm 100% certain I'm a porn addict but it's weird. Sometimes I'll be jerking it, and instead of just cumming, I'll lose my boner and excitement by just trying to find the perfect videos to download, sometimes for hours. It's like the addiction isn't even driven by my sexual instincts, but rather my instincts to like accumulate things, like a squirrel collecting nuts for the winter.

What @hellojohn said. A lot of guys do that. Searching for porn honestly sucks because it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

porn addiction is real and if you realize that you are addicted you should try your best to stop it at least reduce it to two or three times a week every other day or something like that

They are real and i have one! Easily spend 5 hours a day searching amd looking!

@hellojohn yeah... I spend a long time just making sure I am always up to date on the different sites I browse and people I follow. Collecting links and the sort. More than half of them I haven't even gone back to yet. Its like an intense FOMO I guess, I have to be up to date and can't have missed something. It's just a routine at this point. It's not even I'm "addicted" I suppose to the pornographic part its the making sure I have everything I want stored for later like a squirrel.

It is fucked dude. Terry Crews had one. Terry fucking Crews.

When it gets in the way of life I consider it a negative addiction

i'd say yeah, I know it can definitely ruin your perception of sex in general and just you won't cum unless it's the person you masterbate to alot... but I feel ike in terms of addiction its wayyyy easier to treat rather than some more harmful types such as alcohol or drugs

As far as I've seen porn addiction has not been recognized as an official diagnosis. Simply viewing or enjoying porn doesn’t make you addicted to it, nor does it require fixing. On the other hand, addictions are about lack of control — and that can cause significant problems. It’s hard to say why viewing porn can sometimes escalate into an out-of-control behavior. I should say it is more of a compulsive behavior rather than a serious addiction, but it is also a topic that shouldn't be taken lightly.

it's about dopamine. when you feel too many stimulus watching porn, you will gradually become insensitive. I recommend you to read some posts about dopamine.
