The way I understand it is that you have to post outside the Noods area to get credits and not tank your contributor level. Each post inside the noods area saps contributor level and really is not worth posting in.

I feel the same way. The flow is silly. "You need to reply to unlock" -> "You need to use credits to unlock" -> "You need to pay to boost your score". With no indication of what posts will be "premium" until you reply.

The issue I have is knowing how to leave meaningful replies on posts if you can't always see what's going on. Sometimes I can make a decent post of there's a preview, otherwise it can be difficult. Also, what kind of contribution is good enough, and how much is good enough?

I think it’s the more you contribute or help in threads the more contributer points you get so that people can’t just spam and view 1 thing then leave.
