Why do companies not take a stand against scalpers?
#1
So of course with the latest craze, bots have bought out the stock of the newly released RTX 3080 only to be re-sold at a marked up price.

Wondering why companies do not stop this trend if they actually care about their fans.

#2
probably because they'd have to be their own distributors then, no more wholesale

#3
Its helps the company because the brand value goes up

#4
They don't care, they get their money.

#5
Exactly this

#6
Feel like it’s good for the company because it increases the perceived value of the product. It crates more demand for the product

#7
companies make's money, by selling items.

scalpers buy a lot of item, company makes profit.

there's no law that prohibits someone from buying a lot nike shoes, or re-selling them.
them reselling it for a higher price is not the companies problem but other governing bodies or price regulatory commission etc

the only thing the company is responsible is balancing the supply to demand,
too much demand the company can't keep up.

the company doesn't make profit on scalpers by increasing the price they aren't allowed to do that since we have SRP

the only thing people could do is NOT buy the product, Avoid buying from product from scalpers.

"if they actually care about their fans."

That's your mistake right there. They don't. If companies like NVIDIA cared for their "fans" (actually I'd prefer the word customers in this case), they wouldn't create terrible software like Geforce Experience which won't let you use the hardware encoder on the card you PAID for without having to be online and tracked by NVIDIA with an account. They would also fix bugs that create corrupted recordings of precious gaming moments. They just don't care.

But I do think they might decide to do something about it potentially if they think it will be good for their reputation, which in turns also raises their perceived value.

Reason is always the same - money.

#10
As others have point out they makes money regardless of who they sell to. However, there is also right to resale laws, which makes entirely stopping this impossible. Though they can limit how many each person can buy, which is hard online.

Even if they did care, it's difficult to stop them. What are they gonna do? Ban sites like Ebay from selling them in the 3rd market? Even if that's a simple task, then they just move onto the next place.

Even Newegg and Amazon have scalper prices it's ridiculous. But it's a natural Supply and Demand; if you're desperate enough you'll pay more.
