anyone got recommendations for MMOs that have come out in the past decade or so? looking for something to play but not sure what to look for. grindy korean ones are ok!

FF14 is one of the most played mmos at the moment.

My favorites are:
- Soul Worker: because i like anime mmos
- Vindictus: because i really like the combat system

my favorites are Maplestory, Soul Worker, WoW and GW2.

Depends what you are looking for. Subscription based ones like WoW and FF14 still exist (FF14 is currently dominating WoW.) Maplestory and Ragnarok Online are both fun. Honestly, check out a few WoW private servers some of them are interesting experiments. I've been getting a craving to play Everquest lately or Ultima Online.

I could tell you Soulworker because i mostly enjoyed it but for what i know they should close the servers soon.. sad
