4k or 1440p monitor
#41
I keep hearing the adage that 1440p+120FPS is much better than 4k+60FPS. Can anybody offer their input on this?

Right now, my poor toaster can barely run 1080p+60FPS, but I am planning to build a PC in the near future.

1440p for sure, FPS > Graphics imo.
But if you have good specs and play games that have good graphs AND the money to buy a 4k monitor, then go for it

Personally I think 1440p is all you need for high end gaming, go with 4k if you don't care that much about high fps.

4k can have issues with ui sizing but for gaming it can be amazing if you can get your system to work with it. i have a 4k laptop but it can't handle gaming at that resolution so i turn it down to 1440 most of the time.

4k is nicer imo

#46
1440p is perfect for monitors 4k is overkill imo

#47
1440p is the way to go

#48
1440p is perfect

I got a 1440p ultrawide monitor and love it for the immersion

#50
oh thats intereswting

I totally agree. Thats it!

It depends. If your PC can run your games at high graphics and 4k then you can go for it. I would recommend if you play multi-player or competitive games I would go with a higher refresh 1440p but thats just me. If you care more about nice graphics and your PC can run it then do 4k.

#52
Like linus said, 4 k is useless for gaming

#53
depends on your gpu, and gpu that can run 4k are pretty small stock

#54
I really didn't think there was much of a difference after 1080/ 60 hz but the higher you go the crisper it looks, at least up to 144Hz  and 4k.

1440p, save some money
