The credits seem to come from any post (reply or new thread), the the contributor level seems pretty vague. Everyone seems to be in the negative...

I feel like threads that require credits for unlocking content shouldn't negatively affect contribute level until either the content has been unlocked.

The first thing I did was check the FAQ and their is some explanation there. From what I can tell contributing to non-leak threads gives you points, which leak threads do too, but leak threads reduce your contributor rating.

I believe you need to have a positive contributor level to see links unlocked w credits
