After Endgame, has anyone else lost a bit of interest in the MCU?
#1
I'm not a movie buff; I wouldn't say I watch a lot of movies at all. In fact, if I want to know how a movie ends, I read a plot synopsis instead of actually watching it sometimes. However, over the past decade, I was really invested in the MCU. They were the only movies I cared to watch in theaters. After Endgame, I found myself not as invested. I most certainly will watch the upcoming movies like Black Widow and Spider-Man 3, but I'm definitely not as into it as I used to be. The novelty of all these movies existing in the same universe has sorta worn off. Plus the unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman left a big hole. I actually think Covid might have also had an effect because, now that theaters are closed, I've gotten used to not watching anything anymore. Maybe a new MCU movie actually coming out will re-ignite my interest.

Definitely, and honestly I don’t have any real desire to keep up with the new MCU movies that will be coming out

I totally agree. Maybe it's because we don't know what they're building towards next. But it kinda feels like we're in the "sequel" phase of the MCU now, which is when any franchise falls off.

Endgame might have just set a really high bar too. Like it was such a big thing, I binge watched basically all the old movies in the month leading up to it...I don't know if it can ever be topped.

Don't have to tell you how important casting Robert Downey Jr was in Iron Man for MCU.
His playboy personality brought a fresh breath of comic relief that wasn't a punchline.
With him gone, all eyes will be focus on the two Chris if they can pull the rabbit out in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy

Absolutely, they're gonna struggle to get back to where they were, may as well finish the current stories and call it

There's still the Eternal movie, and the rumor of Xmen appearing in one of the Phase 4 movie before capping it with Fantastic Four
there will be a lot of Marvel movies in the coming years, just not sure if the original cast will still be on board...

RDJ as Iron Man and Chris Evans as Cap were giant staples in the franchise for me, without them I imagine it will still be great  content. I'll just watch those movies feeling as if something is missing

i got that feeling too, but then i thought about it. Everything comes in phases and Marvel's set up a hell of a foundation, not to mention they haven't even introduced half their intellectual property yet. we got all the mutants and XMen and Fantastic Four still to come. MCU and it's first four phases are it's "golden age". Much like the golden age of say, the NBA, had it's Dr Jay, Kareem Abdul's etc... it wasnt until the next era when we saw the Jordan's, the Dream teams, the three-peats etc., everything got even better and more intense and more competetive. So with that analogy, Marvel hasn't even gotten their Jordan yet so to speak. RDJ was not the whole MCU, he just set the bar and there are plenty equal caliber actors ready to show out. And some we don't even know about yet. We just gotta be patient for Covid to settle down for productions to go full steam ahead again. I am hopeful.

A little bit. I'll still follow the universe, but it has lost a bit of it's lustre

no new movies. not much to be excited about tbh

Yea man! I kinda felt that way too. I remember i was just a kid when the first iron man came out and the learn that it was linked to hulk. that was when i was introduced into the whole marvel MCU, but after endgame. it all seems like it ended already.

Honestly for me there is still love but losing the key heroes kind of ruins the mood of future movies.
