Americans, how did a felon become president?

I'm not looking to judge anyone. Just want to know what you think of the president.

As someone who is separate from US elections, I am very confused.

My uneducated layman take is the timing of inflation (a worldwide phenomenon) being blamed on current democratic administration, an inability by Harriscampaign to distinguish itself from current pres and on a particular platform, awful management in general by the democratic national convention as well as targeting the wrong demographics, and likely loads of implicit bias factoring into the perception of harris' identities as a woman and a black as well as indian person. probably also many voters just dont really care about or understand policy and media makes the dissemination of information circulate around soundbytes and vibes rather than meaningful platforms. trump doesnt have any meaningful or practical policies, just what sounds tough and looks good to ppl who dont understand practical policy and it will likely get reined in by his staff. lots of other analyses and data will emerge as the numbers are more clear cut later on, but only othe rmajor one i can think of is poor voter turnout from likely dem voters.

Thanks, this explains a fair bit!

One thing that still confuses me is about spreading info though "soundbytes and vibes". In the circles I'm in, the public perception of him is terrible. Not lack of meaningful and practical stuff but more like he betrayed people after he had incited unrest.

Letting things filter through his staff and the limitations of the other party are good points, I guess I was fixated on the person and not the parties.
