Horror movies are absolute DOG nowadays. They always end up killing or getting rid of whatever is terrorizing them in the film, in one way or another. That makes the movies not fun, ya’know? I believe that what makes a good horror movie is that feeling of hopelessness and despair you feel knowing you can’t do anything to escape the situation.

I'm an A24 fanboy, and I loved The Witch. Midsommar was another good one. Both of those films are great at creating a sense of inescapable dread.

"The Thing" by John Carpenter. More thriller than horror, but still amazing story without the need of jumpscares or any cheap shots.

Nothing after the conjuring was any good. I watched most of the horror movies after conjuring not very good . Some are good like doctor sleep and in watched sinister first one second one was bad.
