My favorite games right now are: Seeds of Chaos, Summertime Saga, The Tyrant, Bitch Breaker, Kotoko is a Little Different, Married Warrior Emma, with honorable mentions to Till Her Amorous Body Corrupts and Four Elements Trainer.

ive played some here and there before. Huniepop is great for casual play (candycrush style). i recently started getting heavily into visual novels. i didnt expect to be hit in the feels as much as i have been. four elements trainer is a good way to start but is a lot more interactive with gameplay than traditional vns and they might feel slower or boring depending on your tastes.

Try out katawa shoujo or ddlc for a more traditional experience. For visual novels, i use erogedownload but installing vns (in general) can be a bitch sometimes. Some vns are deeper than just "sex me, mc" so be wary of that.

Summertime Saga is pretty good, but like someone else said in the thread, most games are just moving hentais. They are just choose your own adventure style hentai comics.
Not that they are bad tho, I definitely recommend summertime saga.

I think they aren't as developed as they could be, but they are in a weird spot that makes them hard to grow overall. The target audience is already small by its explicit nature so not only advertising them is harder, but also selling them: the storefronts that allow them aren't as accessible and don't feature nearly as many payment options (especially if people don't want that stuff on their credit card for example) so even less people buy them. And even if you get a game like that on Steam, there's still a chance the game gets removed if a character might be regarded as underage even though it's entirely fictional.
You have this pretty "big" (in relation to other countries) scene in Japan that churns out a lot of adult-oriented stuff, some even higher budget (Rance that's been ongoing for like 3 decades or something, Illusion games have a lot of customization to them and CM3D comes to mind as well), but are overall very limited in budget and it shows. A lot of games just feel like a waste of time in their design after trying out countless games made in RPGMaker/WolfRPG, even worse if the porn isn't good enough to carry the shitty game attached to it.
Then there's this weird Western scene where a lot of people are actively developing a game and getting a lot of support on a monthly basis via patreon, best example I can think of is Monster Girl Island (which I think had like $40k a month at some point IIRC), but there are NUMEROUS titles, large and small, that are getting funding but take forever to be completed (if they ever will be).
I think it can only grow though, especially if we compare the state of adult games 10 years ago to now with how accessible game development has become as well.

To go back to my favourites, JSK games feature some fun gameplay and branching storylines, they are very short but they aren't dragging on for too long that way so it makes you want to go for alternative routes which is pretty cool. Shin Sei Den is among my favourites as well, the combat system is very dull but the story was decent and the art was good and it definitely felt like an RPG.

The only porn games I ever tried was that one dating simulator I forgot the name of, and Oppai Slider 3 (I love em big anime tiddies).

Wow, it was a total b*tch to install and configure OS3. The only installer I could find was in Japanese, it would only work on Windows XP, and it had some weird glitches.
But I loved the slider in the game that gave the girls ginormous boobies. I'd kill for a copy of the game that works on W10.

'House Party' is probably the best. It's actually quite a playable game if you play it properly, or you can use the console commands to turn it into a full-on sex simulator. You can get it on Steam, I would actually recommend it.

I really like sprite-based adult games. I would recommend the Succubus games. 'Sword of Succubus and Tower of Succubus. As well as a game that's still in development called Crisis Point Extinction. They are usually metroidvania type of games.
