Agreed with OP; in my opinion, storyline/plot has a significant impact on how memorable that particular video is- and if its perceived in a positive or negative light. For example, more outright abusive behavior IMO is a turn-off and thus negative, whereas something silly/funny but also kinky that somehow ends up leading to something wholesome where the couple ends up bonding over it is more positive. (This positive aspect can be rare, but makes the content that much more of a gem!)

Plots are hit or miss for me. What I hate is when you got the “innocent girl next door” and she has “never done anything like this” but has her clit pierced and a bunch of tattoos.

I mean the plot's going to be pretty basic anyway, except for some very rare occurrences.  However, I think it's better beyond it just being memorable.. depending on the plot it definitely builds up to the main event better and can turn me on even more if it's a good/sexy buildup.

Ofc I don't 'watch' porn for the plot though, I will look for videos of pornstars I feel like watching at any given time.. find certain ones with keywords like "anal, lesbian, rough, dildo" whatever.. and then IF it seems like it has a nice buildup, particuilarly if it's something kinda fetishy, then I appreciate it a lot more and the "climax" is that much better, yea.

They wouldn’t necessarily have to have a big plot but more like a theme that will let your own mind build up the fantasy. Background sets add spice instead of just seeing a dull bedroom or hotel room.
