Halo is considered Xbox's flagship game series but I've never been into playing fps games with a controller. I used to play a lot of Halo:CE and a bit of Halo 2 on PC back in the day but most people i mention it to seems confused Halo was ever on the PC at all. 
I'm sure it was way more popular on Xbox, as it was THE game to get with the original console but it seems strange how such a good PC fps game is almost unknown to the general public. 

I don't even know how many hours I spent on Hang em High and Sidewinder as a kid, or playing oddball on Rat Race.

Anyone who played it back then that have some cozy memories to share?

Halo:CE was the best because of all of the awesome maps. Played the shit out of the demo on Blood Gulch and then got the full game to play. Hang 'Em Hiigh snipers/magnum pistol, sidewinder was another good one like you said. There were some levels that were giant and looked like you were a toy inside a toy room was fun too. And the exclusive weapons such as fuel rod cannon, banshees had it as a secondary attack as well. There were some cool mods for sure too. Some people added in the juking mechanics of the banshee from Halo 2. They also added in locking in with rockets. It was just ridiculous how good of a game it was.

The only thing was that I would always get some frame drops despite having a decent card at the time.

I used to play the demo which had Blood Gultch and the “Silent Cartographer“ mission. It’s what honestly got me into gaming and Halo.
