Are humans just machines?
#1
Machines are based on syntax, not semantics.
They do not necessarily need to understand the meaning of words to use them correctly... But how does that differ from us?
Is it possible to prove that you're conscious?

Take some neuroscience courses after getting through physics 2 electrical stuff and yeah, you can start thinking that way. But it's an utterly complex machine to an 'nth' degree.

#4
I mean, we have feelings that cant be explained sometimes. Everything in a computer can be expalained

#5
we are like machines but not machines

#6
Sort of? But we'd be somewhat stretching definitions and now we're just making semantics arguments.

#7
Well Elon Musk thinks we're living in a Matrix-like simulation.

I think the difference between a living being and a machine is that machines are deterministic. You can predict a machine's behaviour while on the other hand living beings are unpredictable.
Another difference is that living beings - humans in that case - are curious and are able of asking questions, which is a matter of cognitive ability.
