ArrowVerse opinions?
#1
I used to watch The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow a lot. I know they're very corny but to get DC characters on TV like this was really exciting at first. However, now I've not watched any of them for ages as I felt they became very repetitive and boring.

I haven't even watched the Crisis on Infinite Earths. What's everyone elses opinions on the shows?

They are corny, and while watching Supergirl Season 4 I remember putting on Nolan's Batman trilogy and noticing the huge gap in writing quality, subtlety of the themes, complexity of the plot, etc.

Yet, I still enjoy them. I spend half the time screaming at my screen when Flash can move at near-light-speed for hours but is overwhelmed by 5 randos, etc. But it doesn't prevent me from routing for one or the other character and getting out with real emotions once in a while.

One thing I'd say tho... it takes a looong time to get out of there repetitiveness. Arrow was basically 4 seasons of "I lie to protect you but I'm blaming you for lying to me" with every single character... Main cast grew out of it, but the series itself still has that stigma. Supergirl is the most childish feminist propaganda for the first two seasons, to the point that I enjoyed it ironically.^^ Gets better as well and even allowed itself one or two " more subtle" side-characters in Season 4. Flash is supposed to be joyful and I actually like that it's the one going in the darkest places without even you knowing. The protagonist having a Batman-like obsession with Reverse-Flash, responsibilities regarding criminal lives, rights, image, that full episode when everybody is one second from dying and he slowly realize he won't be able to save them, etc. Legends I watch fully for the corny factor. It's anything goes, Season 3 finale being the greatest taste if you went till then.

But, yeah... I watch Arrowverse like I watch amateur series. I see the wires, I see that they had 3 days to make 5 VFX that should've taken 3 weeks, I see that the writers are working with a basic plot and 3 locations to make an episode work. If you don't embrace the corn and if you don't survive through a few seasons of repetitiveness, you won't make it.

I was able to watch through most of the first seasons of the shows I mentioned, it's just that repetitive really got boring. How many times can Barry be the fastest man alive, but then another speedster appeared who happened to be faster.

Supergirl was a bit meh tbh, not much exciting happening.

As for Legends, this show was probably one of my favourites due to how weird it is. I just think it got a bit too out of hand.

I started watching all of the cw shows as they came out and stopped watching them after a while. I only checked the crossover stuff which while corny is fun. The only one i kept watching was legends because it doesnt take itself too seriously

The first 2 seasons of Arrow and Flash were decent then they start falling off after that.
Never got into super girl 0 appeal to me.
Legends of Tomorrow I quite liked however end of season 1 annoyed me (wont spoil it) however after that I struggled to watch Season 2 then eventually dropped it.

I one thing I did like were the Team up/Cross over episodes that brought characters from the different shows in for 1 or 2 episodes.

Strangely enough, that's the crossovers I like the least. They tend to take a huge part of DC (I don't read the comics but have a basic understanding of some key elements) and make them... a bit simple compared to the original? The Monitor cross-over gave me fears of a possible Darkseid beatable with a few punches in a matter of seasons...

Really enjoyed arrow and flash for their first 3 seasons or so... afterwards it gets repetitive and i pretty much stopped watching. I really enjoyed the crossovers tho like when supergirl and flash met and when arrow and flash trained together but thats about it. It got super repetitive and i stopped lol
