Baseball/Football/etc - should the use of "foreign substances" be allowed?
#1
Personally, I like the idea of using stickum or pine tar or whatever. Crazier catches in football, crazier ball movement in baseball. I think they would make the game a lot more exciting. And if everyone is using it then everyone is on a level playing field. Thoughts? Examples of other sports and foreign substances that could be allowed?

might as well make steroids legal. baseball was more exciting when everyone was juiced and cranking dingers left and right. less injuries/recovery time too would benefit everyone.

my fear is the runoff culture it can create. many kids in HS have died trying to take PEDs to keep up. Kinda scary.

I'd say let professional athletes use PEDs if they are willing to have low salaries. So let the guys using natural stuff have the high salaries, and let the PED boys get low salaries. If the someone with a high salary is found using PEDs, they get punished by having the lowest of salaries, and single year contracts only. Hit them in the wallet and see what happens.

the suggestion of changing salaries based on ped's is an interesting one. I think that would be really cool to see for a 5 year period. Most sports nowadays aren't made for any natural athlete without ped's unfortunately,

to add to my earlier comment, i'd only allow steroids in NON-CONTACT sports. baseball, tennis, golf etc.

I say the MLB should create its own sticky substance that pitchers can use. It would be similar to pine tar in the fact that it would help the pitcher with grip, but not impact the spin-rate of the pitch.
