Can a dip be a sauce?
#1
Or is a dip essentially a dip and a sauce is a sauce? My theory is there is essentially 4 types of sauces: Dips, sauces cooked with the food, dressing, and the sauce itself.

A dip is essentially a sauce in a small bowl

#3
Is cereal a soup?

#4
Its a thick sauce, so yes.

#5
this is up there with "is water wet", but yeah imo its a sauce, hence "dipping sauce"

#6
I guess but I'll still judge you for squirting ketchup all over your fries instead of just dipping like a normal person

#7
All sauces can be dips but not all dips can be sauces.

Ex: Cheese can be a dip but no one would call it a sauce, it's just cheese. Sauces usually mean something has to be more complex than just a single ingredient.

#8
Now I'm confused

#9
Depends if you use it for a dip or a sauce ? Nutella is a spread but you can use it in a cookie so it becomes stuffing ?

#10
I would say no.

#11
its a no for me

#12
shit, that's a good question. I'd say yes.

#13
yes, but depends on the thickness
