I'm on the fence with this one. by definition, it is a sport but i can't put gamers in the same class as someone who plays football, basketball etc. imo "e-sports" should be it's own thing and not compared to "athletic sports"

Personally id keep it at two different things, esport, and just sports.

I'd count it as a sport. For me sport isn't just the act of doing something physically demanding. The competition is a huge factor in defining a sport.

Chess is a sport, therefore e-sports is sport.

I view it as 2 different things. The physical demand of sports is too much.

I think sport needs to have its own branches off it though.

For me, since it is very competitive I definitely consider it a sport. But I wouldn't consider professional League of Legends players for example, as athletes.

I think a lot of people have a bad rep for esports they think that esports players are just nerdy people playing videogames for a living. Because of that people don't take esports seriously especially in comparison to real sports.
