Do you like Chris Pratt as an action-star / leading man?
#1
Posted in another topic about the Jurassic World reboots and I was reminded about how much I dislike Chris Pratt as a leading man / action star. I remember him as Andy from Parks and Recreation and thought comedy was much better fitted for him. Same with Guardians of the Galaxy. But in leading-man roles he looks stiff and forced. PASSENGERS was a horrible movie where Jennifer Lawrence falls in love with him, he looked like a total joke in the JURASSIC WORLD films, and he looks even more ridiculous playing serious in THE TOMORROW WAR.

I practically cried when I heard he might be taking on new Indiana Jones roles.

I think he needs to stick to comedic and character roles.

As leading man - yes
In action role - undecided

But yes, he sounds good for the role of Indiana Jones

God help us all. That's probably the most horrible choice of all. Even Kanye would be better at that role than Chris Pratt.

He's stiff af in my book. They only choose him for his looks. Chris Pratt should probably go to acting school.

I agree that he's much better suited to comedic roles (he was great in Parks and Rec) but he can also be a leading man in an action movie provided there's comedy as well. Obviously I'm thinking of Peter Quill aka Starlord in the Marvel movies; I think he's perfect for that character and nails the role. I haven't seen Passengers or The Tomorrow War, so I can't comment on his performance in non-comedic action/drama roles.

Because of his success in comedy, I actually think he could be a decent Indiana Jones, because Indy has a humorous/sarcastic streak that I think Pratt could play well.

I think it's a misunderstanding that Indiana Jones is a comical character. He has human qualities that remind us he's not invincible like fear of snakes and making mistakes, but that's less about the character and more about the situation. Indiana Jones is not a wisecracking character, he's a pretty serious and passionate professor.

It's kind of like the new Star Wars movies, they turned them into comedies because the original had "humor", but a totally different kind of humor than what was presented.

I can't take Chris Pratt seriously.

I think he really fills in the role of a fun relatable guy with flaws. He's not so good in serious movies but definitely works well in more comedic roles.

Yes. Most people base their idea of action stars on guys like Arnold, Stallone, Van Damme, etc. We don't seem to have many of those anymore.

He’s pretty good lol funny guy

Appearance suits you well. You might be able to watch one.

He's the most overrated leading man imo
