Any1 remember the cool sigs people use to make for forums? Some would even have animation added. I remember some people would even pay to have it done!

people i've seen on forums usually used animation/motion design programs so there's very little coding involved with something like After Effects unless you're adding in special scripts - i have some experience with this but not sure how great they'd turn out haha.
