with the friends reunion scheduled to be released later this year on hbo max i was wondering what everyones feelings were about it.

Is it too late? will it be as good as we remember the show being? do you care about what has happened to the characters 20 years later? do you think this is going to be a vehicle to set up a new season with monica and chandlers twins and there friends?

A reunion is perfect for nostalgia and two decades is just about right. I know some die-hard fans and others who vehemently hate Friends, but I thought it was sufficiently good enough for broadcast television and created a lot of intermittent memorable and meme worthy moments. Obviously this reunion is for the fans, just like the Full House reunion, which lost some of its soul due to changing cultural context and audience which I think Friends would suffer from too as it was already starting to decline towards the later seasons. The joke now is always situational comedies could usually be solved with the advent and ubiquitous usage of the cellphone.

Literally every issue in friends could of literally been solved with a quick text before anyone else found out about it.... great observation

I dont think this sets any commitment for a spinoffs to be made from this reunion. I think there can be good ways to approach it. I thought full house did a pretty good job on continuity.

they should let the show be, its earned its place as a nostalgic watch, no interest in anything new
