There probably still be a market for professional adult content, but the production quality for independent will keep getting better and the likelihood that an agency will crop up to aide the independent creators with technical and equipment side while keeping the independent atmosphere. Though at that point it’s no different from professional porn.

I feel like the future of porn is more expansive appeal as more kinks and fetishes are served with higher production quality over time. But that kind of picky viewing is also going to have a price tag for the foreseeable future, and I'm sure content providers are going to find more straightforward ways to monetize it. Interestingly, it seems porn companies are more interested in quality of life features and overall value than traditional entertainment providers like (e.g. Netflix).

Of course, ease of use is more crucial when you're trying to serve an audience that's often trying to keep their porn habit under wraps. However, with the stigma of porn gradually dissolving, that also adds opportunities to the industry, so I expect to see some bigger budget versions of the weirder kinks in the near future. VR is also getting cheaper and more portable so I agree that's going to grow a lot over the next few years.

I don’t think that VR will gain that much steam simply because it requires specialized equipment that the regular consumer would more than likely not be willing to invest in. One of the draws of porn is the convenience of it. Take that away and you’re bound to lose a percentage of your audience.

I disagree, I think once VR headsets become cheaper, more comfortable and more commonplace, then VR porn will grow too. But i think it's a few years off at least.

VR porn, in the long run (I thought Google Glasses would push VR and creepshots, but it turned out to be a disappointment in those areas). 3D and animated porn will continue to grow, hopefully approach mainstream. Then maybe one of the big studios will finally take the brilliant step of doing motion-capture. Just imagine: the hottest anime/game girls with the techniques of a professional pornstar...

Oh, and when deepfakes get good enough, combine with VR.
