people have been saying that prices will drop for over a year now, but nothing has happened. So who knows... :/

its unlikely that they'd drop to close to msrp, but they might drop a bit. but really i recommend finding a cheaper 10 or 16 series gpu on like fb marketplace or something. i bout a great used pc and could easily recuperate my costs by just selling the 1060 that it has. a 1070 or 1080 or 1660 can easily handle most current games to the point where you can play competitively against the best tech.
