I just got war thunder today on Xbox and I’m just confused on how I play it. Especially in the naval section. It shows that I can use machine guns in the tutorial and also torpedos, but when I try to use them in game I can’t I can only use my main guns.

Your best chance is to rebind the keys if possible (I dont play on xbox so i dont know the whole process). Also, some machine guns don't work in general, like many hull mounted ones, so that could be a reason too.
