Higurashi no naku koro ni is a lovely visual novel adapted into a somewhat good anime. They decided to come back to it though last year and "redo" the show with new visuals, but also they tweaked the timeline. They added some new content that was really good, then they threw sensible character development out the window to make an ending with no payoff. So yeah, fair warning. Watch the original two seasons then stop.
