Horror movie recomendations / discussion
#1
Hey guys, I love horror movies, they are pretty much all I watch these past few years and would love to discuss and recommend movies with y'all.

I love all kinds of horror so would take any recommendations. Some of my favourites are Jacob's Ladder, Possession, The Thing, Evil Dead 1, Ju-On: The Grudge 1 & 2, Hereditary.

Let me know what you think of these movies and feel free to recommend me any horror movie you like and if I have seen it I'll let you know what I think.

Conjuring series is a personal favorite. Insidious is pretty good as well. Shutter is a Thai film that reminded me a lot of Ju-On

You should try the Fly. Great cast, unbelievably good make-up. It is definitely horror, although is a more thriller kind of horror. Close to the Thing, in my opinion, both in slow build-up, sci-fi premise, and general goodness.

If you love Hereditary but haven’t seen Midsommar you should check that out. It’s the directors follow up. I love it

The ring (japanese) and ju-on are classics.

Like lairdweller123, I also recommend Shutter (thai) which still creeps me out till this day!

The Eye (cantonese) and Tale of two sisters (korean) are also worth a watch

Haunting of Hill House.
The Haunting of Hill House. The series does struggle with pacing... But with strong performances, intelligent and empathetic writing, and patient, well-crafted filmmaking, it soon becomes a powerful investigation into the lasting effects of trauma.

Appreciate the reply man.
I
definitely dig the conjuring series and generally like the James Wan horror movies enough but definitely The Conjuring and Saw 1 standout as his best. I have seen the first conjuring and enjoy it a good bit but haven't seen the rest cuz I have heard mixed reviews, worth checking out though in your opinion?
I feel like I watched Shutter a long time ago when I was younger and it scared me a good bit, will definitely go back and rewatch it as I see a lot of people still really dig it.

I Absolutely LOVE me some David Cronenberg and the fly is a kick ass film and certainly up there with The Thing as far as gross out body horror effects, insane ammounts of goo, and as you say slow build, premise and general goodness. The Fly also has a great story, I'm probably due for a rewatch on it honestly.

How do you feel about other Cronenberg movies? It's hard for me to pick a favourite of his but I'd prolly go with Dead Ringers, Naked Lunch or Videodrome for me.

@fleekonfleek - I was also a big fan of Midsommar, can't wait to see what Ari Aster is going to make next. I have to say as far as horror goes I was a little dissapointed with Midsommar as it didn't have much in the way of scares for me and also seemed a little predictable but I loved it nonetheless. Hereditary for me though is a masterpiece, certainly a hard film for ANY director to follow up.

Sorry guys I'm still tryna get the hang of this site, having a hard time doing a quote reply so just gonna do this for now.
