I remember seeing a YouTube video back when I was 11-13, a dude explaining some basic C++. I also remember seeing a video from 2PlayerProductions about Minecraft which was new back then and the creator talking about programming. It just seemed like this extremely powerful tool. How someone could just sit at their keyboard and create something from scratch which could make millions of dollars. So after that I tried learning. I'd say I got a good foundation. These days I would say I have learned how to think programming. It's no longer as much about the languages but about what the problems you are trying to solve. When you learn to program the bigger issue comes up, what the hell are you supposed to create? Haven't figured that out yet.
