Games are becoming increasingly more demanding of VRAM so it may become an issue if you're concerned about playing AAA games and some other graphically demanding games, but otherwise it should hold up decently for at least 1-2 years. So basically it depends on what ya wanna play

Assuming you want to stay with Nvidia, a used 3080 12gb would be a solid upgrade path for cheap.
Value-wise for new, look for a 4070Ti Super sales during Black Friday sales.
