It's a satire/spoof on classic fat stupid husband with hot wife shows, specifically "Kevin can wait" (f Kevin James for trading wives on that show). It starts very sitcomy with the camera, writing, and laugh tracks; you see that basically everyone makes jokes at the wifes expense. When she is away from them, however, the show shifts to a breaking bas style drama with lower angles, darker tones, and dramatic styles. It shows the abuse and neglect the wife goes through and how she wants to escape from her narcissistic husband.

It unfortunantly got canceled before season 2 aired so they have an "ending" but it does feel a bit rushed. I'm happy they got the chance to finish it though. It's nothing truly groundbreaking but it's definetly a breath of fresh air with the carbon copy repeat shows that constantly air nowadays.
