Is it possible to make a good movie adaptation out of a scifi novel? I find that  a lot of the movie adaptations skip details due to budget and time constraints and that really hurts the story. Also I have never seen a movie capable of describe the protagonist thoughts which really cuts into the insights of what makes it interesting for me. Are there any movies you people think prove me wrong in this regard?

yes its possible, you're just wrong. your thinking that they would do a 100% accurate adaptation the a novel which is impossible to do. why ? 

 who would even watch a movie they already know what's going  100% 
only a small portion of FANS are going to watch the movie objectively most of the people watching are standard movie goers 
they don't care about those small detail that other DIE hard fans care. the directors try to tweak out scenes because they want all people to relate on the scenes
some scenes in the novel looks dumb in live action, which is why they tim those parts  

if their going to make the movie accurate how long does the movie take? could it possibly end in a part 2, etc
those questions are often asked by producers

their objective of making the live action. is it to encourage people read the Novel, or just for the sake of Money 
there's that factor also

yes, that can be done but like mentioned due to budget cuts the final outcome dont usually do justice

depends on the plots and alita battle angel is amazing furthermore there's actually of famous movies which are technically like avengers
