Drop a recommendation. Just watched one with only a 35% rating score and actually enjoyed it. I've seen some with 95% scores that completely sucked, so wondering what I've been missing out on by following these ratings

Low critic rating, or low audience rating? The audience rating is usually a better gauge for if I'm gonna enjoy a movie or not with few exceptions. Generally speaking, critics rate things based on what they think their artistic merit is, while general audiences rate things based on how entertained they were. For me personally, I don't care how great your story idea is if you can't communicate it in an entertaining way.
