Chi stuff was cool and all, but overall pretty generic for me... sad that i didnt get to see mushu since he was the first cool friendly dragon i knew when i was a kid... it wasn't necessary for it to reboot it, but it wasn't that bad either...

Personally as an asian american i do not understand why people were hating on the movie so much regardless of the contravircy with the main actor. I thought the movie was pretty good and even though it didnt follow the same stuff like the animated version i still think that wasnt the point as its a live action movie which is supposed to be based off a real event which is why i think mooshoo wouldnt really fit and the singing besides that I think the movie was good and should he watched although i do think the 30$ disney is charging along side the subscription is a lot id just find another way to watch it or if you really dont care id just buy it

Normally live-action is done badly so I had hope for Mulan to somehow pull it off but as you said OP, it felt generic. The only thing making it feel special was the relation to the original. Even without Mushu and the singing I think they could've stood out but they really didn't.

The actor's controversy was dumb too. People don't understand her family might be held hostage or something

It has come out on Disney+ but the initial release you had to pay extra for it now it's free. Thought the visuals were awesome but not as good as the original and wouldn't exactly say it was that appropriate for kids!
